Dining at Opry Mills

In addition to a world of shopping, dining is also available at the colossus Opry Mills shopping complex, just a shuttle ride away from the Opryland Hotel. In addition to fast food, there are also one-of-a-kind restaurants:

  • The new Aquarium Restaurant offers dinners the best in seafood with a stunning view of saltwater fish, including sharks, swimming in a breathtaking 150,000-gallon fish tank.
  • The Rainforest Café offers a unique tropical dining experience complete with tumbling waterfalls and the illusion of curious gorillas, trumpeting elephants, and flittering butterflies. The atmosphere here is with an accent on fun.

You'll find there is no end to fun things to see and do while in Nashville.

  • You'll get to experience the famous *Wildhorse Saloon at the Sirsi SuperConference client party on Sunday, unless you want to check things out early and brush up on your footwork.

  • Take a ride on the 300 foot *General Jackson Showboat. You can cruise the river in the morning, at midday, or in the evening.
  • Stop by the *Ryman Auditorium for one of the tours offered between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Known as the Mother Church of Country Music, it was the original home of the Grand Ole Opry. Sit in one of the original pews or stand on the stage where legends performed like Rudolph Valentino, Hank Williams, and Patsy Cline. And don't skip a stroll down the hallways to view fascinating memorabilia from the Ryman's colorful past.

  • The Hermitage was the home of President Andrew Jackson and has been restored to its look during his retirement years from 1837 to 1845. Guides in period costume offer tours daily from 9 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
  • The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum is a new $37 million showplace offering live performances and interactive exhibits along with costumes, instruments, and archival films demonstrating how country music came to be.

Shopping:

  • You'll think you hit the shopper's mother lode when you lay your eyes on Opry Mills. The more than 200 shops, manufacturer outlets, off-price retailers, and unique specialty stores stretch from one end to the other of the more than 1.2 million square foot complex.
    The Bass Pro Shop, Fossil, Tommy Hilfiger, Maidenform, Nautica, OshKosh B'Gosh, Nike, Nautica, Liz Claiborne, Brooks Brothers, Gap, and Banana Republicare are just a few of the available shops. Opry Mills also offers entertainment and some interesting dining spots (see the Dining listing).
  • Cool Springs Galleria On Interstate 65 at Exit 69 at Galleria Blvd., Cool Springs includes 165 specialty stores and five major department stores.

This year you're in for a real treat when the Sirsi SuperConference client party goes country at the Wildhorse Saloon on Sunday evening, February 27th. Music, dancing, good things to eat and drink, and the company of lots of fellow librarians will make this an evening to remember. You'll be able to kick up your heels, sure enough, on the 3,300-square-foot dance floor. Plan to don your best jeans, leather boots, and cowboy hat and join in on a little line dancing or two-step.
