The SuperConference Executive Track will begin on Sunday, April 18, with a keynote address by Sirsi CEO Patrick Sommers, who will provide an overview of Sirsi and its plans for the future. Following the keynote, guest speaker David Bollier will talk to the topic of "protecting the American commons," describing the challenges today to protecting the public interest and the clear link between the role of libraries and "protecting information, knowledge, and resources that are being threatened today." Bollier will clearly define an even stronger role for libraries in the future -- a future in which electronic access to resources is going to be more and more important.

In the first executives-only event, Bollier will then build on his keynote comments, directly challenging library leaders to step up to the task of protecting and taking the lead in sharing "the American commons," i.e., valuable historical and contemporary information, knowledge, and resources. In so doing, they will be protecting the public interest. Bollier will present specific suggestions or directions in which library executives can take a leadership role. This session is designed to be an interactive session.

Sunday afternoon will be focused on "Library Executives' Strategic Technology Planning," with powerful presentations from the following:

On Monday, April 19, the Executive Track will begin with an overview of the latest in Sirsi products and services designed to help libraries in achieving strategic objectives - ranging from Sirsi Director's Station and Sirsi Rooms to the new Sirsi Secured Resources Service for protecting your institution's electronic resources. Following this Sirsi session, then two leading library executives - one from the academic library space and the other from the public library space - will host the following breakout sessions:

During a closing luncheon for the Executive Track, Sirsi's Patrick Sommers and other Sirsi executives will take your questions as well as provide you with additional opportunities to engage your executive colleagues.

Technology Partner Exhibition

Leading third-party products and services available in the industry today complement Sirsi products and services quite effectively. And more and more Sirsi client libraries are relying on or are interested in these third-party offerings. SC2004 will feature a third-party exhibition at which you can see for yourself these powerful technologies.
